My collections represent who I am as an Artist right now, which doesn't narrow it down much. I love to experiment with textures which takes me into the realms of fiber, metal, paint, and leather and how I am able to combine them.

MY STORY

I am fascinated by organic designs and how to manipulate them to create my designs. As a Costumer, I am regularly using textiles, but as an Artist, I have found that I enjoy exploration of all aspects of fiber and mixed media.

ARTIST STATEMENT

“I create because I don’t know how not to.”

 

Creativity:

Thoughts, dreams, inspirations – the beginnings of ideas that develop and grow. How do they manifest – how do they form? Each artist has their own methods, but I often find myself seeing a picture, or a physical thing, or whatever it happens to be, and then reconstructing it into an art piece in my head. I find myself asking how I would convert it to something I could make. 

Creating:

The process of creating for me involves a great deal of prep work. I start sketching, allowing my internal process to morph the idea until it manifests as my own design and reflects my personal aesthetic. Then I collect my supplies and get to work. 

Creation:

The juxtaposition of shapes, textures, and scale fascinates me. I love depth and space, layers, and taking the traditional or expected and breaking them down or mashing them together. The culmination of the creative process is all an extension of who I am, how I was trained artistically, and how I’ve grown on my own as an artist.
